Schein & Cai LLP successfully represented one of its long term clients, Allrizon Communications Ltd. in its asset sales to Smiths Group, a U.K. public company listed on the London Stock Exchange with annual sales revenue of 4.2 billion US dollars in 2007. The complex acquisition transaction lasted over a year, involved multiple international joint ventures and partnership buy-out, and presented significant legal challenges to our attorneys and staff.

After almost 3 years of extensive and highly contentious litigation, Schein & Cai LLP successfully defended one of its clients, a serial entrepreneur and CEO for a Silicon Valley hi-tech start-up in the network security technology area in a lawsuit filed by the company’s major investor and former CFO. The plaintiff alleged serious investment fraud and securities law violations. The case was tried in Santa Clara County Superior Court and the presiding judge Honorable James Kleinberg rendered a complete defense judgment. This hard fought victory exemplified our attorneys’ in-depth understanding of private placement laws, client advocacy skills and most importantly, our full commitment to excellent client services.

Schein & Cai LLP opens its Virginia office in order to better serve our east coast clients as well as clients from the Silicon Valley who have significant transactional and litigation matters in the east coast. The new office will significantly enhance our competitive advantage and provide us close proximity to United States Patent and Trademark Office. The new office is headed by Dr. Daniel B. Schein and is located in a state of the art new facility.

Today, Gov. Gray Davis signed a bill that prohibits email spam in California. This anti-spam bill, the toughest of its kind in the nation, provides California residents with recourse against unscrupulous spammers of up to $1,000 per email and $1 million per incident. According to industry experts, unsolicited email messages currently account for 30% of all e-mail traffic, and will go up to 50% by the end of this year. Schein & Cai LLP will keep up with the development and enforcement of this new law, which will become effective January 1, 2004. More Info
